Magda Cordell McHale (1921-2008) died aged 86 on February 21st 2008 in Buffalo. Along with her first husband, Frank Cordell, she played a major part in the meetings of the Independent Group. Her second husband, John McHale was also a key member, and in 1961 she moved to the United States with John McHale, where the couple worked on the new field of futurism, collaborating with Buckminster Fuller and Alvin Toffler. She was Professor Emerita at the School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo.

Sadly, one of the key members of the Independent Group, Colin (Sandy) St John Wilson died in May 2007.
