Modernism in Crisis: James Frazer Stirling, Architect and Teacher is the title of an exhibition to be held at the Yale Center for British Art in New Haven, October 14th 2010 until January 2nd 2011. The show will explore the career of James Stirling, a Visiting Professor of Design at the Yale School of Architecture from 1966-1984. Material is drawn largely from the collection of the Canadian Center for Architecture (CAA) based in Montreal, which is also the joint organiser of the exhibition. There will also be a book to accompany the exhibition, published by YUP and authored by Anthony Vidler, Dean and Professor of The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at The Cooper Union. The show will tour to the CAA in Spring 2012. This is a welcome addition to material on this rather overlooked member of the Independent Group - the international reputation of the Group continues to flourish.
