The Arts Council made a film in 1979 called The Fathers of Pop. It was directed by Julian Cooper and the research was by Penny Sparke. When we screened the film at the Tate Britain conference in March this year, we all agreed it was a really valuable resource, as it features interviews with many of the key players. The film is now available on-line via http://artsonfilom.wmin.ac.uk which is great. I do have the transcripts of the interviews carried out for the film, but am waiting for a particularly messy office move to come to an end before I can a) find them and b) make them more widely available.
